Curious about BA pushchair policy

First, for those here in expectation of me being a parent seeking advice, look away now. This is more to do with my curiosity having witnessed something.
Second, I'm not going to identify the route, but all I'll say is it was a full flight and it was not ex-UK or not ex-EU.

Disclaimer over, allow the story to begin...

For those who want the abbreviated version: My understanding is that BA policy is that pushchairs go in the hold ? And, in any event, even if not "hand baggage" must be "ready-to-go" into the lockers.

Now, I would generally be in agreement that one should not refer to a woman using a certain word beginning with B normally reserved for dogs, but I think the one in this tale was a rare exception that firmly earned such a title.

Said individual was first observed lurking around with the usual Group 1/2 brigade who loiter as close as they can to the desks (I'm sure those here know the scene). A the time, the individual was carrying the baby on her back in a soft padded carrier of some description, with an empty pushchair to the side. So far so good.

Passport/Boarding pass scan done, said individual proceeded down the jetty. There was a bit of a delay because there were about a dozen wheelchairs on this particular flight, so we waited behind them in the jetty. At this point the baby was placed in the pram and strapped in. Again, so far so good.

Aware it was a full flight and whilst waiting for the wheelchairs to be processed, jetty handlers started proactively walking up the jetty seeking people willing to have their bags put in the hold. Here's where the fun starts...

Said individual was invited to put pram in the hold, to which the answer was a reasonably polite, but quite forceful "no, it's going with me". They politely tried again, but the answer came in slightly harsher terms.

Anyway, time files and said individual reaches aircraft door.

Crew posted at door politely asked individual to remove baby from pram and hand over pram to jetty staff. Same "no, it's going with me".

Crew said, "ok, fine, but move to the side, fold up the pushchair". Answer ... "how am I supposed to hold the child ? I'm wheeling the pushchair up the aisle".

They repeated the request to move and fold. At which point Mrs DYKWIA shoved her boarding pass in their face (almost quite literally !).

At which point the crew said "oh that's fine" and let her wheel it on.

Suffice to say, DYKWIA was sat in 1K (Club World) and spent the next x hours pushing the call-bell for every little thing (drink ? ding food now ? ding done eating ? ding make my bed ? ding). Honestly, I was surprised she didn't insist on being moved to door 2 before disembarking so she could be first off !

As I said, truly deserving of the B-word, unfortunately.

Anyway, I'm assuming this pushchair was allowed on because the DYKWIA was Premier status or something ? Because I've never seen pushchairs allowed on BA before, whether folded or walked down the aisle ? Or are other parents simply more polite and understanding and naturally hand over their pushchairs ?
