Drop to silver and save yourself the £1500! You still get great benefits with silver - it might not be as luxurious but I think Gold>Silver is MUCH better than Silver>Bronze!
Save yourself the hassle, the money, and the time. Then after a year of silver, if you really miss gold, then spend the £1500 on a proper holiday and tier point run in one go
