I live not a million miles from Heathrow and we had a wild hour, garden furniture flying, some localised flooding and impressive claps of thunder. So if that was similar anywhere in the vicinity I'm not surprised it caused issues. From what I saw on fr24 most of the diverted flights were "gas and go" mainly at Stansted and then making their way back to LHR. So hopefully folks weren't too disrupted
