For me, the Asia weakness is the only reason I still have status on AA. Not that AA is great on their own metal but JL, Cathay, and Qantas are far better than Korean in my opinion. UA also has better partners in ANA, Singapore, and Air New Zealand.

Now that DL lost Virgin Australia as a partner, they are rather worthless to AUS/NZ at least once you need to get beyond SYD.
