Thank you Little Voices. I can indeed get the lower fare with a stopover in Hong Kong of 167 hours and 30 minutes. The only issue now is that every time I try to complete the booking I receive a message saying that they are experiencing technical difficulties so I should start the booking process again. This happens so frequently that it is a wonder they manage to sell any tickets.
7 days is what I normally encounter, however, Ive been able to get more than 7 days when starting from Thailand in the past. As for the multi-city booking, Ive had the same problem as you - its very frustrating. In some cases Ive given up and ticketed with other airlines. I've let CS know but nothing seems to improve and Ive also tried asking CS to book and they couldnt get the same price - three times what I was seeing ("technical difficulties", for me, occurs after a fare has been displayed) Occasionally, it works after a few weeks of trying...
