My experience is limited to the weekend, so this may not be applicable for weekdays in Lima.
- Getting around by foot in Miraflores was easy, though I found the sidewalks to be on the narrow side esp if there is construction. I tend to walk fast, so I found myself bypassing others and stepping into the street to do so.
- Getting around by car - I found Uber to be the easiest option. No Spanish necessary, other than 'hola' and 'gracias'. This is probably overkill but after I am assigned a driver, I send a message in the app describing myself in Spanish (ie, hola, estoy usando una camisa verde) - thanks Google Translate!
- ATMs - I had no idea the fee for withdrawal could be so hefty. Maybe I picked the wrong ATM but one of them asked for 25 PEN ! YMMV.
- Not many places are open on Sundays, but there is always grocery stores and some restaurants.
- WhatsApp is a common method of communication, so it's worth downloading and getting set up before you visit.
