Yes but if OP is worried about the mis-connect it’s what you have to do. But as mentioned above, UA has been playing with the RDU - SFO flights and they are currently back to 2x daily so with the current schedule OP could take the 645am flight and have a lengthy but same day layover.
That’s why as a fellow ex-RDU traveler I would say it’s far to early to try and sketch this trip out because it’s hard to know what UA will be running on the RDU-SFO direct in 2025, whether they go back to the 1x daily with the tight connection or the 2x daily with a tight connection and a 12+ hour connection
