While not a Marriott, we find the Mauna Lani to be first rate. The staff is extraordinary, the food okay ( with the exception of the Canoe House which meets its reputation) and the resort itself really beautiful after their 200 million remodel. We are going back for the third time in November in a 18 month period.
I don't doubt that the physical facility, particularly the rooms, as well as the service, are much nicer at Mauna Lani, but I don't believe the beach compares. In fact, I have a hard time thinking of a resort I've been to with a nicer overall beach experience than Mauna Kea.
