I booked a "Basic Economy" trip on United (operated by Lufthansa) from Paris to SFO in late July for a family of five, myself, my wife, a 16 years old, a 13 years old and a 9 years old. I am looking at the reservation online and I see that seat assignment must be paid for.

What would you say the chances are that we'll be seated next to each other?
