I can confirm that A3 uses soft-landing which means, if you do not requalify as Gold, you'll be downgraded to Silver, even if you haven't gotten close to the silver requirements.
What Xandrios has pointed out is an important one: you'll need 24K miles + 4 A3 segments because you need to qualify for Gold again and not requalify.
