Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question or has been discussed before...

Post-pandemic I am only now beginning to travel with 2 young kids. In the past, all my travel was solo or as a couple. Current status: Plat.

I reckon that travelling with 2 adults + 2 kids, most hotels would require me to book 2 rooms. Does it make any difference to upgrade chances and Plat benefits if I book [1a/1k + 1a/1k] or [1a/2k + 1a/0k]? Do properties ever upgrade such 2 room bookings to a single 2 room suite, or would it always be a Suite + a Room?
