If it loses the dispute, it was not frivolous.
My experience of disputes is that the card company does ask for details and will make an initial assessment as to whether it seems valid. I have disputed cancelled flights successfully
the OP has tried getting the airline to refund, but the airline has refused to do so. I have also used it when an airline has been slow actioning a refund
