Copa displays three different fare types - Basic, Standard, and Flex. After comparing the prices of the roundtrip I posted above booked under the different fare code bands listed at United, the price of the basic fare pretty much matched what ITA was returning for what United calls Promo. The price of Standard pretty much matched what United calls Plus and Flex matched Flex. You might want to call Copa to verify that changing the ticket type changes the fare code, but it would appear it does. Other airlines, like Air Canada, changing the ticket type does not change the fare code, even though the price of the ticket increases/decreases.

just a heads up, I was digging around and found the fare rules on the Copa site. It says the higher economy classes still book into A, so watch out for that
