I had an interesting one happen to me a couple weeks ago at the Hilton Madison. Would be interested in others’ thoughts/experiences.
Their exec lounge recently reopened. Yet their lounge was also closed during my (weekend) stay, which was fine. I would assume that the diamond daily F&B credit would simply revert to the normal terms, which is of course the daily $15pp credit. Right?

This was a huge ordeal with the FD. Instead of honoring the rather basic benefit, they issued me three $18 vouchers, yet the vouchers could only be spent on specific things. One was for drinks, one was for an appetizer, and one was for breakfast. Not being interested in breakfast and not being hungry after dinner, I asked if I could just get the $30 comped for a few cocktails at the bar. Nope.

I thought the whole idea of the F&B credit was to let the customer have flexibility? The $54 in credits is nice, but IMO it’s a veiled attempt in capturing more F&B revenue, as there’s not a whole lot of opportunity for two guests to dine at breakfast on $18, just for example.

FD huffed and puffed all over this one, pulled out some sort of binder from the back office and started flipping pages in front of me, indicating “this was policy.” I asked if I could decline the diamond upgrade to the exec floor in the event of lounge closure, and the response was “then you would get nothing.”

Anyone else have this experience? I thought it was super odd, as I just wanted the $30 and not the $54 they were trying to give me.
