OK, but it sounds like a different situation. You are trying to check-in bags for the second flight the day before and before you have flown the first segment (which is from a different country). There is no doubt that you will be able to check-in bags to CUN AFTER flying 1st segment and arriving to IST, but I doubt you can do it before. But again, I have no experience with this.
