I only had a single DP flying 788. I sat in 5D/G with a friend and there was no overhead space for the middle seats in the last 2 (or maybe 3?) rows in J. 788 only has 20J seats so there isn’t much redundancy on other J paxs’ space either.
I turned to the bin spaces for the window seat but they were already occupied (I didn’t board first but certainly boarded before FAs start to find bin space for Y pax in J).
In the end I had to put my roller to the bin a few rows ahead of me and keep my personal backpack under seat. I have never had to do that in another AC wide body aircraft.

I will edit my original post to hopefully not misguide anyone.
