ETD's are only intended to get you home, not travel to other countries unless that is the only way home.
I was asked for my itinerary from Warsaw which included stops in other EU countries over about a week. The embassy/consulate/online booking system issued the document appropriately and endorsed it for the required duration.
Perhaps the term 'ETD' is incorrect in my case?
