The second galley is indeed primary for most crew activity.
Noise bothers me on aircraft. Just find the background engine and aircraft noise loud and annoying, but cannot ever remember being bothered by galley noise, it's sort of gets drowned out by the constant hum anyway. I too wear earplugs or have some music playing in some earbuds.
But very happy to promote the idea that sitting in bulkheads near galleys is a bad because of the noise, at least on the flights where I'd like to select a bulkhead
