Are BA dropping First on flights to Newark (EWR)?

I have family in New Jersey and much prefer to fly LHR/EWR. EWR is 20 minutes drive from the family, JFK is 2 to 3 hours daytime and an hour even at 5am.

I've now had my flight booking for December/January changed three times since May, all because BA have pulled First and downgraded me to Club. I realise this is a First World problem but I booked First and want to travel First, I only go a couple of times a year and travelling alone, I feel much more comfortable. I booked using a Companion ticket so finding a reward seat was an achievement.

2 May booked BA 181 LHR/EWR 27 Dec returning BA 180 9 January EWR/LHR

11 May email from BA, First cabin removed from BA181, downgraded to CW. No thank you and I managed to move my flight to BA189 which is my preferred flight time anyway

15 May email from BA cancelling BA180 (EWR/LHR) and I cannot find a return flight around 9 January from EWR, have to settle for BA178 from JFK which as above I don't really want.

And today (8 June) email from BA, First cabin removed from BA189 (LHR/EWR) downgrading me to CW.

I've not yet done anything about today's email.

Anyone have knowledge? Is BA moving to only 3 classes LHR/EWR and return or am I just unlucky? Or is the First cabin still there and I've been downgraded in favour of someone with status (I have none)?
