My experience has been that they only look at the bottom line. I was once authorized $100 for clothes needed due to lost luggage. I wound up spending about $125. I submitted my receipt expecting to only be reimbursed $100, but when I received my reimbursement check it was for $125. The receipt that I submitted was not itemized either.
