Id like to figure out Avios next. I have a BA account but no status or points etc... I gather from what I read that this might still be useful in terms of moving points.

The Avios site also seems like a disaster from a point of view of searching for flights.

My main use for the flights would be business class flights long haul or business class upgrades long haul.

Is there a go to thread that can help an Aer Club member with Avios.
What exactly do you want to know? The Aer Lingus website here - https://www.aerlingus.com/aerclub/us...business-class - shows how to upgrade with Avios. It's a bit of a manual process, but this is how you do it for Aer Lingus flights.

Using your Avios for business class just requires you to find business class flight availability on the Avios site.

With regards to the BA angle, you can search for award flights there, and you will find all the oneworld alliance partners included as well (so, for example, if you want a flight from Sydney to Melbourne using Avios on a Qantas flight, it will appear). Due to BA being in the alliance, there are many more options to earn and burn. As you've noted, you can transfer points back and forth at your leisure to pay for whatever flights you want.
