Some people live by the idea that they want their genes to live on — same kind of reason why most parents decided to have kids using their own eggs/sperm rather than to adopt orphans or other children not of their own genetic inheritance — and so want someone in the bloodline to survive. That or they don’t want their family assets to end up outside the direct family line.
