Ugh! This is my pet peeve with AS. They make it exceptionally difficult for people in their core region (i.e., Seattle) to get awards for all those partner intl destinations. We end up having to buy the positioning flight, or take the 0:dark-thirty connection out of SEA. I really do wish they did better in this regard. Asia for sure requires luck or cash to get to LAX or SFO where most of the inventory is located.
