3hk has two prepaid sim product lines, which is very confusing. The 33hkd version is sold only by ParknShop and Watsons, and it seems to be quite restricted to compete locally. For example, I don't think one can add any of the 268hkd 365-day Travel passes. The other prepaid version is the DIY version, which one can add the 365-day travel pass. The DIY version is more flexible, but more expensive for local usage in HK. For example, with the DIY version, there is a 50hkd 30-day add-on data package for local usage, which comes with only 2GB of data, and 1,000 voice minutes. Or, there is a 20hkd 30-day add-on voice package for 10,000 minutes, or one can have no add-ons and use it on a classical pay-as-you go basis. The DIY version can be set up even if you are outside of HK. Since their 365-day travel data packages can also be used in HK, and I am not a big user, I am tempted to have only the travel package, and have the 20hkd voice add-on when I visit HK. I can use the travel package in Canada, and it is much cheaper than what I can get from Canadian providers.
