Well I've more or less stopped staying with Hilton and its other brands because the prices are simply too high and there are never enough, or any, hotels in the places I need to go to. If pricing themselves out of much of the market works for them, then good for them.

I did read an article at some point where the CEO stated that instead of selling surplus rooms at lower prices, it actually works better for them to leave those rooms empty and leave the prices at a higher level. You would think that this might wash the hotels of the many unwanted elements that have been staying there, but I reckon that won't be the case. Maybe I'm one of those unwanted elements, as far as this hotel goes, because the stay certainly didn't inspire me to book any other Hilton stays whatsoever.What I didn't mention in my review was that I really had to fight to get the free breakfast that gold members are entitled to (and frankly, that breakfast should be included given the cost of an overnight stay in this hotel). They found X, Y and Z reasons as to why I couldn't have it, so I had to screenshot the rules along with an extract of my account showing I had selected it as one of the My Way options. This isn't how I want to spend my time during a hotel stay and I haven't stayed at Hilton since, so I think I will scrap (kündigen) the Hilton branded credit card that gives me the gold status. I'm more into smaller non branded hotels these days, although IHG gets quite a bit of my custom.
