Happy to find six options offered through preorder. As a vegetarian though, the five meat meals meant no real choice. PDB of water or “champagne” was offered by a very cheerful FA, who made a point of circling back for late arrivals. Once airborne, the pursuer confirmed my preordered smoked five spice tofu was onboard though it was also one of the three choices for those who did not preorder.
Service started with a decent Sauvignon Blanc and mixed nuts that weren’t just warm but supernova level. Seriously I can’t recall ever getting a hotter item on a plane.

The tray arrived with the mixed greens, normally-warmed roll and cookie butter Pie in the Sky. I’ve never been a fan of the five spice flavor so my expectations were low going in and the bowl pretty much delivered. On the positive side, it’s filling with a good amount of tofu, vegetables, and nuts.
The purser was very attentive throughout. Trays immediately cleared and frequent drink refreshes. This was my first time in a Next-ified cabin. It’s a solid product and provides a nice consistency for people coming off a Polaris wide body. Also desperately overdue. I disliked the NG’s navy recliners the first time I sat in one in the late 90s. The ensuing decades have not been kind.
