A couple of fun facts: Lake Erie is approximately 569 feet above sea level; Lake Ontario is approximately 243 feet above sea level, meaning that the water in the Great Lakes to St. Lawrence Seaway drops 326 feet as it passes through the Niagara Escarpment.
From its southwesternmost point at Willow Beach in Toledo to its northeasternmost point at Lasalle Park in Buffalo, Lake Erie is 400.2 km (248.7 miles) in length. Along the 82nd meridian, which passes through Avon Lake, Ohio, Lake Erie is approximately 51 miles long; directly across the lake from Avon Lake is Erie Beach, Ontario, south of the community of Blenheim, which are in the Chatham-Kent regional municipality.
