I live in China - I think this has happened to me twice and there was nothing that I could do to resolve. But it happened if I paid for dining rather than for the hotel room at front desk.

In china they'll often out the name of the property owner first and maybe use pinyin for the hotel name.

In my case it happened at Hyatts.

As I write this, I feel like maybe I was able to resolve once by writing this and sending to chase. Can't remember.

I suggest talking to chase and amex more than the hotel. The hotel just codes the Chinese name. hope you can fix . If paying for the room itself at front desk, it should work properly.
