How long is your trip? In general the beach is a big part of our experience here, both when I was a child and now for my own children. However there are other beach options, it is really a matter of cost and convenience. For example the summer rates can be 2x-3x higher than winter rates. One of the reasons is the exclusive Hyatt beach that is steps from the hotel. If that is closed then your options are (1) one of the public beaches (one is literally adjacent to the hotel beach - the other is maybe a mile up the road, an easy bike ride or long walk) which require $10/day guest fee. During the pandemic these were closed to non-residents but I think have since re-opened to all (with fee). They tend to be more jammed in the summer than the Hyatt beach. There is also the free beach across the state line in Kings Beach (with pay parking).

In terms of other activities you can rent bikes to go up and down the path next to Lakeshore drive. But that is maybe good for a couple of hours? You can also hike the path to Sand Harbor, or drive back to California to go hiking near Squaw Valley. The closest mini-golf is Tahoe Vista I think. And of course there is the swimming pool at the Hyatt. For older kids there is also paddleboarding, kayaks, etc. for rent on the public beach.

Personally I am little biased as I plan to retire in Incline Village. But I would not pay a premium to stay here without the beach access, particularly for more than a couple of nights.
