Seats were well used they along with the entire cabin sorely in need of a refresh best usage of the blanket was to place it under you cushioning the otherwise lame seats. Changing planes in Dublin was the worst upon worst management of airline operations I have ever witnessed first hand. First the walk from the international arrival gates to the Schengen was one of if not the lowest walk with no visible means of carts etc then you have to take a bus to the out lying gates, once there you find out that your plane is 2 hours late ( Not shown in the main terminal areas) The area is packed with passengers I mean packed, when it came time for us to board they simply open the gate causing a rush to the ticket check, then only to find we had to wait 25 minutes on the ramp for the plane to be serviced really? Then on the plane an interesting announcement was made by the FA informing us that nothing is provided on the flight and nothing is free not even water. To boot the seat pockets were sealed shut go figure that one, I am surprised they didn't charge for the bathrooms.
Needless to say we canceled our return trip and flew BA Premium Coach much more civilized, cleaner comfortable seats and even for BA edible food. Aer Lingus is attempting to be an alternative to LHR/CDG in flying back and forth to that they are failing miserably making the old saying "you only get what you pay for" so true.
1. If you need a cart or wheelchair you need to book it.
2. Dublin airport is quite small. If that’s the longest walk you’ve ever had I don’t know what other airports you’ve been to.
3. Within Europe EI is an economy airline. So you pay for food etc. You got better service on BA because you paid for it.
4. The bus gates are about ninety seconds from the main terminal. Most airports have them. Sometimes you get an air bridge. Sometimes you don’t.
5. They were busy because it’s June. Peak holiday season in Europe is beginning. If your flight was out the weekend it’s worth noting that it was a holiday weekend.
6. Delays happen. But you should have been told. I’ll give you that.
7. From what you say the service could have been better in J although I find EI very competitive. Interesting you choose to praise BA who, for example, actually charge for J seat selection and Wi-Fi. Neither of which EI charge for.
Frankly if this is your worst experience flying millions of miles you’ve been very, very lucky.
