Virtually everything in Bangkok is pricier, with prices continuing to rise. So I'm not sure there will be a "normalization."

The price spread between Marriott and other comparable properties is not unique to Bangkok and has been discussed in other threads. Speaking from personal experience, it's currently very obvious in both NYC and SF.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to change.
