Since we went to Republic and two-class CRJ700s, just about every flight begins with an announcement that due to the short flight, food and beverage service will not be done. I've been upgraded every flight (with usually only 4-5 of 9 seats filled) and the F flight attendants have been fantastic with PDBs and in flight drinks, snacks and even refills 10 minutes before landing if you want to chug something. I feel bad for the MCE section right behind!
FYI, those are Skywest (SKW/OO) flights. Republic (RPA/YX) flies E170/175s for AA, and doesn't touch DFW at all, at least not for AA.

IME, Envoy service is near-universally great. I've had a wide mix on Skywest, usually good-to-great, with a couple of duds and one 'wildly making stuff up' thrown in. (And I would classify the 'making stuff up' experience as great, but I'm not sure a single thing they did was in the manual that way. It worked, though!) Either is better -on average- than mainline AA, though.
