I might be more of a "UA loyalist" if United had more flights out of DCA, but as things stand, I only use IAD for international flights or if I have a very specific need for UA PQMs or PQFs (eg, a small amount to cross a status threshold). Not only is it much faster for me to get to DCA from the District, but once there, it is so much faster to get to my gate. If I time things right - eg on a Saturday morning - I can Uber from my front door and be sitting at the gate in under 30 minutes - literally. Even at more crowded times it is never more than an hour from home to gate. And I love the short ride home when I return on a late evening flight. To me no amount of elite status I could gain by flying out of IAD is worth giving up the convenience of DCA. It's one if the very few perks (compared to many detriments) that we locals enjoy by virtue of our proximity to Congress.
