Just assumed you were on the later flight. In addition to 6:20PM non-stop CDG flight, there is a 4:25PM LHR flight on VS, a 6:05PM AMS flight and the 7:30PM LHR flight. Between the 4 available options, they should almost certainly be able to find you another D1/business class seat option over the ocean if you miss your flight. There also look to be same day arrival options to CDG via MSP and LAX that depart after 1:30PM. I'd say you are definitely overthinking this one.
