If you book individual stays at the same hotel on back to back nights, doesn't that somehow impact status?
Maybe it only impacts the "number of stays needed to earn status" thing?
I also assume it would void any "per stay bonus points" promotions if you did that...?
Maybe an e-mail to the hotel could get the communication to someone who could actually help.
Otherwise just show up and explain the issue at check in.
You may end up being out all of the points taken in your initial reservation if you don't cancel and rebook the stay... I am not sure there is a way to get you your points back unless you cancel. The hotel may be able to do that manually somehow if one night is removed from your stay but I am not positive they would know how... if it is even an option.
