The main benefits for me (and please correct me if I’m wrong) is the ability to use the credit card voucher in Upper (you can’t use it with Red in Upper right?) and I towards the end of the year I do a fair chunk of Delta flying in the US so it’s useful to have the baggage allowance and priority check in etc.
Have you burned your Flying Club status match already?

Otherwise you can just wait until your BA Gold comes through then status match back to VS in due course, with just a simple PE return required IIRC...
