Well, it's closed because as far as I know it's a new hotel and the construction is not finished yet ; yes the link you provided is correct.
I am not sure what are the dozens of hotels you had in mind, but in terms of international hotel chains there is the Novotel and this new Courtyard. I am not sure there is a lot more which are close enough to call themselves BKK Airport in the name? Perhaps you were thinking other hotels not that far from the airport, but not purely considered airport hotels.
