The most obvious explanation is that somebody with the same name as the OP booked a room at the hotel - without a Bonvoy account number - and the OP's account was inadvertently attached to the reservation.

If somebody was ACTUALLY stealing an identity, the last thing they would do is alert the person in question by using their Marriott Bonvoy account details...
