Is fare basis same as selling class?
Here is an example of the schedule I'm looking at (just one option):
HEL - LHR DEC24 19.30 - 20.35, BA6035 (operated by AY) - Selling class C, J
LHR - MIA DEC25 12:35 - 17:30, BA1528 (operated by AA) - Selling class C
MIA - LHR JAN16 22:45 - 15:10, BA6030 (operated by AY) - Selling class I
It is likely that the outbound restrictions are less than the inbound since C is a higher booking class than I. As such, it would seem that you would have no problem making changes to the inbound without any change fee
Checking on ITA and using book with matrix, can see an option in 'I' class each way for USD2600 , which I suspect may be cheaper than C outbound and I inbound
