but only if the OP is allowed to enter Turkey - no mention if the OP has a visa for Turkey. If not then there is no TWOV in ZRH possible.
They would qualify for TWOV based on their US green card.
But it doesn't matter. They had two itineraries, not one, and the LX staff in LAX are supposed to assess their eligibility to travel the first ticket only. LX will be left holding the can if anything goes wrong with the self-transit, having to repatriate the passenger back to the USA.
