This month, a one time only rundown of all hotels that opened their doors. There's only one property in the Bourgeois Lifestyle segment, so many forum members will not be too pleased with it.
May 2: California –
Hampton Inn by Hilton Stockton.
Took ages to complete, located on Golden State Highway (CA 99), which runs parallel to I-5 with SCK (Stockton Metropolitan Airport) in between. The airport offers commercial flights to Las Vegas and Phoenix carried out by Allegiant, which company doens't seem to like lurkers from Europe on their
website, you'll get denied access.
May 3: UK –
Hampton by Hilton London City
A entirely refurbished hotel, formerly called 'Arbor', before that: City Hotel. Located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
May 3: Nevada –
Hilton Vacation Club Desert Retreat Las Vegas
Used to be called the Desert Paradise Resort. A real clever name, since it's ultimately located in Paradise, Nevada. But HGV opted for a more realistic name for this holiday compound in a residential part of town. They're no longer advertising it as a "resort" and even the eponymous "fee" surcharge does not apply here! A free shuttle can take you to the Strip, about three miles away. Visitors rate it four-and-half out of five stars. Yet you have to love past-century interiors.
May 4: Australia –
Hilton Garden Inn Darwin
This one is right next to the DoubleTree. In fact, before the building's renovation it was part of it. Half of the rooms have an ocean facing balcony. The most affordable month is October when you can book an ocean view room for $200+. December and January are even half as much, but around the year's end you will most likely have to put on a rain suit over your swimming gear. Parking is complientary, for use of a credit card a 1.5% surcharge is charged in Australia according to the
DoubleTree.
May 4: Virginia –
Home2 Suites by Hilton Leesburg
Could be an additional option to get to/from Dulles International Airport, you can even take the Dulles Greenway toll road, it ends in Leesburg (though you don't have to and it is not the shortest route).
May 4: Michigan –
Tulyp, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
This Holland, Michigan hotel joined Tapestry as 'City Flats Hotel' some time ago. It was redecorated in the past year and renamed Tulyp. It opened just in time for the
Holland Tulip Time festival (now over).
May 4: Texas –
DoubleTree by Hilton Fort Worth South Hotel & Conference Centre
Like the name says: south of Forth Worth along Interstates 20 / 35W. If intend to visit this DoubleTree, you may have to decide quickly. Google's Streetview shows these brands on top of the building: Holiday Inn (2022) Radisson (2018), Best Western Plus (2014), Fort Worth South Hotel (2012), Radisson (2007).
May 9: California –
Home2 Suites by Hilton Petaluma
A new Home2 Suites along {101}, towards Rohnert Park. In case you worry: Valero, Chevron, 76 and North Petaluma Gas
Outlet are close neighbors. Mentioning this, because Petaluma calls itself the first city in the world to ban construction of new gas stations.
May 10: Portugal –
Hilton Garden Inn Evora
Discussed already upthread.
May 10: United Kingdom –
Doubletree by Hilton Brighton Metropole
321-bedroom beach facing hotel, first opened in 1890, a Hilton since 2000. After a 26 million pound refurbishment reopened as a DoubleTree.
May 10: Texas –
Home2 Suites by Hilton El Campo
El Campo, Pearl of the Prairie, was once the second largest hay-shipping center in the US. The town began life in the early 1880s as a switching point called Prairie Switch on the New York, Texas and Mexican Railroad. The lights of the tiny settlement could be seen for miles at night - giving it the nickname "Pearl of the Prairies." source:

May 12: Georgia –
Home2 Suites by Hilton Hinesville
If you want to call
Hinesville home for a day, the best hotel in town has opened.
May 17: Florida –
Hilton Vacation Club Grande Villas Orlando
(The rest of the world calls them appartments.) Like most of these HGV-reflags, a great place if you adore late 20th century lodging furnishings.
May 19: Arizona –
Home2 Suites by Hilton Lake Havasu City
This Home2 Suites is near Rotary Park and one of the lake's beaches. A mile south of London Bridge.
May 23: California –
The Barnes San Francisco, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
Already discussed upthread.
May 28: Crete, Greece –
Domes Aulus Elounda, Curio Collection by Hilton
Elounda regained fame because of the seventies' BBC television drama 'Who Pays the Ferryman' which was photographed here. (Just don't youtube for it, because that drawly theme music will stick to your head for the rest of the day.) The place has since become home to many expensive high class resorts and this unit must be one of the more affordable ones. Appears to be closed in the winter. Some rooms have a shared infinity pool. The only serious complaint heared by guests is that it takes a 45 degrees angle footpath to get to a nearby beach. That must be an exaggeration, but still...
