The TWOV exception doesn't require two segments booked on a single ticket.
Yes, I agree that formally there is no requirement to be booked on one ticket. However, the first airline (LX) needs to be able to verify the second booking (TK). LX has no access to the TK reservation system. A print out or screen shot could be faked. So I guess the (thrid party) agent handling the LX flight was not able to confirm your second booking.
