I find that almost impossible to believe. The system won't block seats for staff, even on a 'Confirmed' ticket. If no-one has chosen 1A or C then there is no reason why they couldn't be allocated them on Check in but they wouldn't be blocked out beforehand for them.
I'm not sure what happens if they are positioning. I've travelled with Mrs Salad when she positioned and I don't recall a particular seat being blocked out - she just got a normal Club seat that had hadn't been chosen by anyone. Maybe Flight Crew are different? I still don't think that 1A and C would ever be blocked out for them beforehand though.
There is clearly a huge amount of Staff resentment on here, with people accusing them of taking the best seats, pinching the best meals etc, but from what I've seen of Mrs Salad working that just doesn't seem to be the norm. Obviously won't stop the speculation of course but it's not all beer and skittles.
