Apologies in advance if this has been asked before or if it should be actually asked in the JAL subforum.
Basically, I was hunting for some flights to Japan for the fall and as I like to try to do when not super expensive, I try to book flights out of my home airport (SNA) versus begging for a ride from friends or family up to LAX. Checking Google Flights, I found some decent flights hopping on Alaska up to SFO and from there taking JL 1 to HND. However, when selecting my flights, I find the cheapest price is on the JAL website. AA comes up with a price that's hilariously 9 times as much.
While I know you can enter your AAdvantage number on the JAL website, is there any major drawbacks or concerns with booking on the JAL website vs AA.com? Mileage accrual is already a challenge as it is (RIP trying to requalify for Platinum Pro for next year), I figure there shouldn't be any major issues so long as my status is valid and I still earn whatever tiny pittance of miles you get for flying cheap economy.
