If they wanted to do a check to make sure the guest was alive and functional, they wouldn’t have waited until the 10pm hour and for the ability to send two guys to the room, more or less demand that the door be opened, and be ready to make a loud stink upon the door being opened. They expected a problem that wasn’t that of an incapacitated guest and were prepared — or perhaps fishing for an excuse — to consider the OP to be a problem so as to escalate the matter.
This incident took place during a booked two-night stay on the first evening after check-in — that too around three hours after the guest got back into the lobby and used the room key. This was not a welfare check of the OP.
