Does Alaska wait until last minute to upgrade? I just checked in for a flight tomorrow and I'm 3rd on upgrade list. When I look at seat map for 1st class, there are 11 seats "occupied", and then 5 others say "unavailable." Are they holding those seats in case someone buys a last-minute 1st class seat? Thanks.
Not usually, but sometimes. Similar thing happened to me recently, where I was #3 with at least 5 seats available. Y was almost sold out. They did four upgrades at T-30 (including me), just as boarding was starting.
