Dubai Stopover

We will be arriving late at night on Thursday, Jan 13th, so we will have all day Friday and until our flight at 2:30pm on Saturday.

Other random questions:

1. Also, is it true we can just get our Visa's when we arrive at the airport?
2. What would be the appropriate dress for the wife and me?
3. How early should we arrive at the airport on Satruday for our outgoing flight?

Thanks for the help.

FYI, the Shopping (traffic)Festival begins on 12 January, so the city, hotels(hope yours is already booked), airport will be pretty crowded. You have , in essence, one day in Dubai, so I'd definitely spend it walking along the creek, up to the Gold Souk, taking an abra to Bur Dubai, going to the heritage area there. Al Riqqa Street will be all decked out for the Festival as will all the malls. In the evening, I would venture to the happy hour at the Dhow and Anchor Pub at the Jumeira Beach hotel and sit on the terrace. You'll get a wonderful view of the Burj Al Arab and witness its spectacular light show. As others have said, visas are free on arrival. The weather has been rather cool here of late, so I'd advise long trousers and even long sleeve shirts in the evening.
Enjoy your stay here
