- Health restrictions (every other hotel manages it)
If this is the new normal with loyalty programs, could I open a hotel, franchise with Hyatt, deny all elite benefits and give 10 points per night as a consolation? What would stop me from doing that?
Honestly very little would stop you from doing that. Might as well just open a Marriott where many hotels do that. The hotel's excuse is likely that they don't have a lounge or open restaurant and they are not obligated to make deals with third parties to do it. So points is as good as its going to get. Many hotels (Hyatt included) are moving to a no restaurant design or have third parties who operate them so they can keep denying such benefits.
