- Health restrictions (every other hotel manages it)
If this is the new normal with loyalty programs, could I open a hotel, franchise with Hyatt, deny all elite benefits and give 10 points per night as a consolation? What would stop me from doing that?
Most hotel companies would not allow this.
There was a day you wouldn’t see this oversight @ a Hyatt
The company had brand standards in and out of the program.
Now they don’t even enforce standard room minimums
Back in the day Hyatt guaranteed and controlled the inventory to a min level of award rooms so honestly that revenue rooms could sell out but award rooms might still be available!
I remember a Hilton in VA offering me a diamond breakfast benefit during Covid
of a paper bag with a black runny spoiled banana and a cup of yoplait yogurt and a nasty gummy shrink wrapped old muffin
I also got that privilege of standing in line for 30 minutes to get this masterpiece due to the restaurant closing down
They then let me know that anything else I saw like fresh fruit or eggs
fresh bread would be extra
Called Guest Assistance and they issued 20,000 points👍
So while it can happen
I suppose it’s about taking care of your elite customers and in my case respecting my 800 nights with Hilton.
Is it worth risking the business relationship over?
My guess is if many don’t complain they can continue to turn the blind eye until they offer nothing which is what they are essentially doing atm 🤯😡🤷♂️
