They normally offer beverage service on this flight, and I suspect the captain may have suspended beverage service on this flight due to the weather, but I missed hearing the announcement. The flight was completely smooth and there was no reason not to serve us. This same thing happened (no main cabin beverage service) from DFW to DEN a few days earlier. I am starting to get suspicious that they are using these excuses to save money on serving beverages in general.
Anyway, I was disappointed that I couldn't get my free alcoholic beverage and wondered if you could ring the FA call bell and still ask in these circumstances or if you are SOL, and for those who paid for MCE (which I didn't), do they refund the money? Thanks in advance for your input!
I don't care much about the free drink in MCE (plastic cups, bleh!), but nothing wrong with calling the FA and asking nicely. And though MCE does mean you should be able to get a free alcoholic drink, it does not get any better service than the rest of coach.
As for refund because of a lack of drink service? Not likely. the primary benefit is the bit of extra legroom, and maybe dedicated overhead space.
